A 53-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Hillcrest bank Wednesday was arrested nearby less than two hours later.
Samuel Lee Partin of San Diego allegedly passed a demand note to a teller at the US Bank branch office in the 600 block of West Washington Street about 9:30 a.m., according to police.
The written message included a statement indicating that the suspect was armed, Officer Dan Lasher said.
About 11:15 a.m., police found Partin in a patch of shrubbery roughly 100 yards from the bank. Witnesses were brought to that location and identified him as the suspect, and the stolen money was recovered along with the demand note, Lasher said.
Partin was booked into county jail on suspicion of bank robbery.
