Friends confirm the woman killed in the University City mass shooting is Monique Clark, 35, of Chula Vista, a mother of three.
“I can sit here right now and just see her smiling at the pool and having a good time,” said Demetrius Griffin.
Griffin was at the same pool party as Clark when a stranger, Peter Selis, 49, opened fire on the party-goers without provocation, hitting eight people, killing Clark.

Griffin said the other people hurt are expected to survive.
“It is devastating. It’s tragic, it’s senseless,” Griffin said.
People are writing heartbreaking messages about Clark on social media.
One reads, “I can’t believe I’m saying this but RIP Monique Clark. I wish you never went to that pool party.”
Another reads, “RIP to my cousin Monique Clark who was the victim of the senseless act of violence at a San Diego pool party yesterday. Please pray for the Clark side of my family in San Diego.”
“She’s an angel you know she was God-sent. She loved her family obviously and she would do anything for the people she cared about,” Griffin said.
Clark’s family has asked for their privacy as they mourn her death.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Clark here.
