(KGTV) — The man accused of killing an El Cajon woman, who was found dead in Arizona, has pleaded not guilty to her murder.

Jon Clark, 23, was arrested earlier this month and held on $1 million bond in connection with the death of 19-year-old Kiera Bergman. Bergman disappeared from her Phoenix-area apartment on Aug. 4.

Her body was found near SR-85 and Hazen Rd., a remote area west of Phoenix. According to documents, Clark admitted to police he was familiar with the road because it runs from San Diego to Phoenix.

RELATED STORIES:

Clark was previously arrested after detectives discovered evidence of identity theft and forgery in his car while investigating Bergman's disappearance.

Court documents also claim Clark had an abusive relationship with Bergman, and that the El Cajon woman may have also been pregnant at the time of her death.

Clark is currently charged with first-degree murder and other charges in connection with Bergman's death.
