ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV)-- A person of interest is in custody after a 3-acre fire in Escondido's brushlands Thursday.
Fire crews were battling a three-acre brush fire Thursday afternoon near Stonebridge and Old Guejito Grade roads, according to Cal Fire and Escondido Fire Department.
No other information was given on the individual by authorities, only that the fire was located in an area with a lot of trees and brush.
It took one tanker drop to subdue the fire, and Cal Fire reported that forward progress was stopped around 3:30 p.m. Ground crews were mopping up the area an hour later.
Ground and air crews were attempting to put out the slow-moving blaze in an unincorporated area, City News Service reported.
An earlier brush fire sparked in an Escondido residential area near Avocado Avenue around noon.
Southern California fire crews have been busy fighting numerous wildfires, including the 700-acre Cristianitos Fire thatcontinues to burnon Camp Pendleton and in San Clemente.
