CAMP PENDLETON -- A motorist was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton Tuesday, authorities said.
Investigators sent to the northbound side of the freeway just past the exit to Las Pulgas Road shortly before 11:30 p.m. came upon a pickup truck that had hit the guardrail and was blocking the right lane, the California Highway Patrol said.
It was not immediately clear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The crash prompted authorities to close two northbound lanes, but they were reopened at about 2:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
