SAN DIEGO -- Local janitors, security guards, fast food, home health care workers and other supporters of a proposal to raise the minimum wage in California from $10 to $15 per hour took part in a demonstration and march Thursday morning in San Diego.
The group met at 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center Plaza outside City Hall and were preparing to march to the State Building.
Organizers say the march and subsequent rally were planned to coincide with the holiday celebrating the birthday of civil rights leader Cesar E. Chavez.
