DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV)--The deputy who fatally shot a transient accused of stabbing a Solana Beach Rubio's manager in the face on Monday was identified by San Diego County Sheriff's Department Thursday.
Noah Zarnow has been a deputy sheriff for five years with the department and is assigned to the North Coastal station.
On Monday, Zarnow responded to a call of a stabbing at a Solana Beach shopping center.
He and another deputy located the suspect, Emmanuel Ibarra, on train tracks in Del Mar.
According to the sheriff's department, Ibarra was armed with a knife and moved toward the other deputy who lost his footing and fell backward.
Zarnow distracted Ibarra from the fallen deputy and eventually shot him multiple times after officials say Ibarra "charged" him.
