Superintendent Mary Gorsuch issued a statement Friday:

Mr. Latulippe was a loved and cherished teacher at Valley Center High School and his impact on our school, staff, students and district will never be forgotten.  This tragedy reminds me to be thankful for every moment shared with family and friends.

Counseling support for staff and students is available and will continue to be available as we support each other through this difficult time.  As we hear about ways to help the family or when a celebration of life is scheduled, we’ll let you know.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family, extended family, friends and loved ones of the Latulippe family as we grieve together.

Police arrested the driver who hit the family on suspicion of driving under the influence.
