Crews are working to repair a sinkhole that formed near the parking lot at a school in the Sabre Springs area.

San Diego police said they received reports of the hole at Creekside Elementary School (12362 Springhurst Dr.) Monday afternoon.

Police stated: "A 72" drainage pipe that runs through the parking lot, bus turnabout and empties into the creek behind the school sprung a leak causing the ground to give way around the pipe."

The area around the parking lot was closed off, police said.

School officials will be out Tuesday morning to make sure students are dropped off safely and away from the repair work.
