CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Chula Vista City Council is expected to weigh in Tuesday on the future of embattled Otay Mesa Water District board member Hector Gastelum.
Gastelum has faced criticism and calls for his resignation over his tweets about Muslims. One of his now-deleted posts read: "let's pressure our legislators to increase list of so-called #MuslimBan to prevent #Subhuman #Scum from #USA."

Hi Vanessa, why would I resign?
I condemned horrible acts by bunch of people, why would that impact my job as a Director?— Hector Gastelum (@HectorVote) April 25, 2017
Last week, Gastelum was censured by the Otay Mesa Water District. He was removed from all of the board's committees and is banned from showing up at Otay Water District functions.
He is only allowed to attend the monthly board meetings.
During Tuesday's meeting, the City Council could call for Gastelum's resignation from the Otay Water District board and ask the water district to remove him as the district's representative on the city's Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Oversight Board.
