SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating after a body was found following a brush fire at Otay Mountain late Saturday night.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the death are unknown and authorities haven’t said whether or not the death is suspicious.

The one-acre fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. on the western side of Otay Mountain, according to authorities. Crews said the fire was sparked in an area filled with thick brush.

Though the fire had the potential to spread due to fuel, crews were able to extinguish the flames after calling in the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s Copter 1.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
