Details Of Foley Suit Settlement To Be Unsealed

UPDATED: 1:38 pm PDT July 4, 2008

Attorneys for former San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley and the city of Coronado have dropped a request to seal the terms of their settlement in a lawsuit against a police officer who shot the player two years ago while off-duty.

Both sides declined to explain why they dropped their request at a meeting Thursday with Superior Court Judge Richard Strauss.

Terms of the agreement could now be made public as early as Monday.

Foley was shot in his leg, hip and hand in September 2006 after Officer Aaron Mansker followed his car home on suspicion the driver was drunk. Mansker said he fired after he saw Foley reach for his waistband.

Foley pleaded guilty in 2007 to misdemeanor drunken driving.

The settlement was announced Wednesday.
