SAN DIEGO - A man was killed Thursday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving veered off Interstate 8 in the Pine Valley area and plunged down a steep embankment.
The single-vehicle crash happened off eastbound I-8 at the Pine Valley Creek Bridge at about 2:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the driver, who was not identified, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but authorities at the scene are looking into the possibility the driver drove off the bridge on purpose.
