No More Naked Lunches At Maine Eatery

Skinny Dipping Customers Earned Free Sandwiches

No more naked lunches at the Black Frog Restaurant.

The Maine lake-side eatery is dropping the promotion of giving skinny dipping customers a free Skinny Dip sandwich.

That's thinly sliced prime rib on a baguette. Police report getting several nudity complaints and three people face indecent conduct charges.

Greenville Police Chief Scott MacMaster, who said his name has been maligned throughout the world on the Internet because of his stance against the dippers, told the Bangor Daily News that Turner was simply breaking the law.

"The violation that occurred is indecent conduct; indecent conduct is a Class E crime. It's a misdemeanor. It's the same classification as operating after suspension, disorderly conduct, engaging in prostitution and harassment," the chief said in recommending the denial of the liquor license to selectmen.

Owner Leigh Turner decided to can the bare butts after the town board voted to deny his liquor license renewal.

He said dropping the free Skinny Dip for skinny dippers is a no-brainer.

The restaurant features a tongue-in-cheek menu, including a "Skunk Breath" burger with sautéed green peppers and onions and a grilled, marinated chicken breast that "Didn't Make it Across the Road."

There's the slightly more delicate matter of the "tenderest cut of the moose. Sautéed in our own special sauce. Requires 24-hour advance notice and a $25 deposit on a $1,495 menu item."

And, under "Booze," it says: "Our bartenders have little experience and are working here while searching for a real career so don't expect them to know about some exotic drink served south of Skowhegan to underage girls with fake IDs who don't like the taste of liquor. If you can describe it, we'll give it our best shot."
