San Diego Zoo hosts family-friendly 'Nighttime Zoo' festivities

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--Long summer nights during a kid's school vacation can sometimes beg for a change of pace.

Consider bringing the family to the San Diego Zoo's summertime celebration - Nighttime Zoo.

The Nighttime Zoo runs now through September 4 and features new kid-friendly activities like: 

  • Villagers of Africa Rocks - This African entertainment group treats audiences to traditional music and dance. 
  • Dr. Zoolittle and Friends Explore Africa - The "fearless leader of fun" heads up a magical and educational show at the Koalafornia Boardwalk. 
  • New Friends Rock! - Watch a new trampoline show full of super-bouncy acrobats and laughter 

Traditional favorites, like Zoolahoops, also return, along with music and dance the hip-hop group the Funky Monkeys.    

Parents, the zoo hasn't forgotten about you! Grab some grub and cocktails from the "Happy Happens" $6 and $7 menu at Albert's Restaurant in Lost Forest, or you can always relax with an icy adult-beverage from Zoo Brews.

Nighttime Zoo hours: 

June 18 - June 30 & Aug. 20 - Aug. 31: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

July 1-Aug. 19 & Sept. 1-4: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

All Nighttime Zoo activities are free with admission or membership.
